The British art rock band Van der Graaf Generator was formed in 1967 in Manchester, England. Her main character is singer, guitarist and composer Peter Hammill. They released their first album, The Aerosol Gray Machine, in 1969 with Mercury. However, their first commercial success came with the second album from 1970, The Least We Can Do Is Wave to Each, which they signed with the important London label Charisma Records. At that time, they recorded, for example, The Alan Parsons Project or Genesis. The first important periods of VdGG date back to 1969 - 1972 and 1975 - 1978. After that, Hammill went on a solo career and the band did not reunite until 2005, when they first completed a short tour together. Peter Hammill (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Hugh Banton (keyboards, bass) and Guy Evans (drums) have performed regularly and recorded albums ever since. The last of them, Do Not Disturb, was released in 2015.
